Computing Kids is Hiring!
We believe that giving students opportunities to explore programming and learn coding skills is critical to their success, both academic and beyond. Our educators guide students to imagine, design, and build innovative software programs in a collaborative environment.
Our after school programs are in elementary and middle schools all over Seattle, both public and private. Classes are small (maximum 15 students) and each class has a Teacher and an Assistant Teacher. The Teacher runs the class, the Assistant Teacher helps students work through problems. Currently all of our classes use Scratch, but we are developing App Inventor, interactive design, and HTML courses for next term.
Assistant Teacher Job Description
The requirements include a basic understanding of the fundamentals of CS/mathematical logic (knowledge of a specific programming language is not required) and a keen interest in teaching and working with children. We are a small company but are scaling up quickly and looking for passionate, self-directed teachers. Experience tutoring is desirable. Familiarity with Scratch is a bonus. Time commitment will be 2-3 afternoons per week. Class start times vary but are usually around 3 PM Pacific Time. Transportation to and from UW campus can be provided. After being an assistant for one term you will have the opportunity to lead your own class. Compensation is competitive.
