Summer Camps

Join us in one of our computer programming summer camps!

Programming With Scratch

Grades 6 – 8

Creative Computing with Scratch students design their own world and then bring it to life with Scratch, a programming language developed at MIT. Through creating interactive scenes and original games, instructors introduce and support students as they learn both a variety of advanced gaming and animation techniques and the fundamentals of programming. This camp is great for any student interested in programming and will give them the foundation they need to succeed in future computer science classes. However there is limited space so sign up now!

Sessions: June 27th – July 8th, August 8th – 19th
Mon – Fri, 9:00a.m. – 12:00a.m.
University of Washington, Seattle
Register

Game Design with Java

Grades 6 – 8

Want to learn how to make your very own video game? Join the Game Design with Java camp this summer to learn how to build classic arcade style games such as Space Invaders and Flappy Bird. As well as program their own unique game! This camp is great for any student interested in programming and will give them the foundation they need to succeed in future computer science classes. However there is limited space so sign up now!

Sessions: June 27th – July 8 (no class on July 4), August 8th – 19th

App Inventor

Grades 5 – 8

Campers discover how to build games and solve real-world problems with App Inventor, an interactive programming language developed by Google. Through creating apps like Finger Paint and Whack-A-Mole, students explore fundamental computer science concepts such as conditional statements, modeling with mathematical equations, and event handling. They learn how to give constructive feedback, and how to use feedback to improve their projects. No previous programming experience required.

Sessions: June 27th – July 8th, July 11th – 22nd, July 25 – August 5th
Mon -Fri, 8:30a.m. – 2:00p.m.
Lakeside School, Bellevue

Introduction to Scratch

Grades 3 – 5

In Creative Computing with Scratch students design their own world and then bring it to life with Scratch, a visual drag and drop programming language developed at MIT. Through creating interactive scenes and original games, instructors introduce and support students as they learn both a variety of advanced gaming and animation techniques and the fundamentals of programming (including conditional statements, variables, and message handling.) Instructors provide personalized instruction to engage students of all learning styles, provide challenges, and foster creativity as they progress at their own pace.

Sessions: August 8th – 19th
Mon – Fri, 8:30a.m. – 12:00p.m.
